PARENTS could be slapped with $6000 on-the-spot fines for allowing alcohol at teenage parties under a radical reform of drinking laws.
The parents of secondary students nationwide will tomorrow receive a letter from the Australian Drug Foundation warning of a binge-drinking epidemic -- and calling for tough new penalties to be imposed on parents.

Wow, that is a pretty hefty fine. They must have a pretty serious problem with underage drinking in Australia. I know that they really cracked down on drunk drivers here in Arizona. I think that it is a good thing. Too many innocent people die in alcohol related accidents.
Concern about binge drinking has become the fashionable concern for newspapers in Australia to have at the moment. Hardly a day goes by without there being a story like this one
