The world is on course for the hottest year since records began in 1880 after record-breaking temperatures in four of the first six months of the year, according to meteorologists.

Good article. It's amazing that so many of our citizens and legislators still think we are in a period of global cooling. You really hope they are right, but there is just too much evidence to the contrary. This last decade was the warmest in recorded history and possibly the warmest for many thousands of years.

The worst effects will probably arrive after I'm gone, considering my age, for which I am grateful. But I feel for those younger people who are trying to make a difference. In the coming decades, everyone will suffer.
I've been studying the condition of the West Antarctic Ice Shelf. Climate scientists are being cautious with their predictions, but many of them are concerned it will rapidly collapse at some point. If that happens we will see a sudden rise in sea level by at least 10 feet. Coastal cities will be inundated.
