Things are pretty complicated there, but it is most definitely a direction that this country is going towards with the attitude that the rich shouldn't have to pay taxes, because THAT is actually the core of the problem in Greece. If the rich there were properly paying tax, instead of hiding it out of country etc... the government would have the revenues to support itself, but also the rich would be forced to invest in the economy to make money to pay for that taxation. (that may confuse people, but essentially the only people that pay tax in greece are the poor and government employee's.

It is also related to a people that want to have their cake and eat it too. The people know that structural change is needed, but they refuse to accede to the changes when the reality is put in front of them.
