The Victorian child from Ballarat yesterday narrowly avoided needing to be rescued by the fire brigade after he managed to climb into the vending machine to get at the toys and lollies inside.
Noah Jeffrey, 3, was so determined to grab himself a toy from inside the machine in a Zagames restaurant play area that he climbed through the retrieval gate, up the chute and into the machine proper.
Once inside, he quickly began to establish his generosity, emptying the machine of toys to a crowd of children gathered outside and then starting to eat the lollies in the machine.

That kid is not a 1%er, he will be occupying Sydney very soon.

Guess the kid figured out those claw machines are rigged. Most of those machines are set up on a number of tries before the claw will go full tension with a slight bit of randomization. This makes the game more of a slot machine then a game of skill.
His mom figured that out too. It cost her a ton of money to get her kid out of the machine.

The game is a learning experience. A child learns that life ain't always fair and not everything is honest.
But then the kid became a thief and that is not good either.
He became just as dishonest as the game.
meh, you might be right - but I think he just adapted to the situation.
I don't find this in the slightest bit funny. The mother was, obviously, not in control of her child thus allowing it to endanger itself. People tend to find this kind or behaviour to be "cute"; sorry but I don't! It is just rude and should be controlled. I see a future of ASBOs and eventually jail in his future! Well done Mom, you're raising a hellion!
You're right about the mom not paying attention to her child, but at 3 years of age kids don't have a very good sense of right and wrong. Children are selfish and demanding. That is the nature of a child. If you can't understand that about them then don't bother trying to raise them.
Chock it up to 'what a smart kid, sh!t happens'. Tell the kid it was wrong and not to do it again because it was dangerous.
Too right! My commentary was about the mother, not the child. 3 year olds need to be guided. Obviously this mother was not watching her child if the child was able to climb into the machine.
I hope this leads to redesigns of all such vending machines, not just this one, to prevent a future incident. And I hope this encourages parents and other persons watching children to be more attentive.
I do like the fact that the boy was willing to share toys with others though!
